Additional Stage and Theatre Equipment

A rigging system is the foundation of a functional stage, but it’s rarely the whole story. Your venue may also need projection equipment, acoustic treatment, heavy load handling, and flexible staging options to support the productions.

Tiffin Scenic Studios supplies and installs a complete range of stage and theatre equipment alongside our custom rigging solutions. Our team has the knowledge to recommend the right products for your space and expertise to coordinate sourcing, installation and inspection. If you want to work with a team that can do those tasks under one roof, then let us help you get your performance spaces running.

PROJECTION SCREEN SYSTEMS

Projection screen systems for stages and theatres come in two primary configurations: motorized screens for quick, repeatable deployment and flying frames for suspended projector installations.

Motorized Projection Screens

Motorized picture screens operate via a wired control box or wireless remote, allowing you to raise and lower the screen without manual handling. If your venue requires transition between programming, such as performances, presentations and events, this reliable, low-effort operation can make a difference.

These screens are compatible with most existing rigging infrastructure and are a practical upgrade for schools, performing arts centers and multipurpose facilities that need consistent projection capability without additional staff.

Flying Frames / Projector Cradles

A flying frame is a rigging solution that secures a projector in a suspended overhead installation. That keeps the stage floor clear, removes sightline obstructions and allows for precise positioning that fixed ceiling mounts can’t often achieve.

Flying frames are also designed to accommodate stacked projector configurations, which is useful if you need increased brightness or want a redundant unit for critical productions. If standard mounting options are limited in your space, a flying frame is a straightforward solution.

ACOUSTIC SHELLS AND TOWERS

Acoustic shells and towers are used together to create a controlled sound environment on stage. They’re standard equipment in performing arts centers and concert halls and a useful upgrade if you regularly host musical performances.

Acoustic Shells

Acoustic ceiling shells consist of modular panels that lock into place overhead, forming a canopy above the performance area. The canopy reflects sound toward your audience and back to the performers, improving projection into the house and onstage monitoring.

Because the panels are adjustable and modular, you can scale the configuration to suit different ensemble sizes and performance formats. For example, you could use the same system to support a full orchestra, then reconfigure for a smaller ensemble without replacing any components.

Acoustic Towers

Acoustic towers are freestanding mobile panels that work in combination with ceiling shells to enclose the sides of your stage. When used together, shells and towers create an insulated, resonant environment that strengthens sound projection and gives performers clearer acoustic feedback.

The towers feature lightweight construction and wheeled movers, making them easy to reposition between productions. They’re also storable, so they don’t require permanent installation.

CHAIN MOTORS

Chain motors are mechanical hoisting devices used to lift and position heavy loads in stage and theatre rigging. Common uses include flying scenery, positioning lighting trusses and handling large set pieces that need to move repeatedly throughout a production.

Their load capacities suit a range of rigging demands and can be integrated into motorized control systems for centralized operation. If you manage complex or high-volume load movements, chain motors provide a reliable and efficient alternative to manual rigging.

ORCHESTRA PIT FILLERS

Orchestra pit fillers are portable stage deck systems that cover the pit area when it’s not in use. You can configure decks and supports at the pit, audience or stage level, depending on your theatre and stage requirements. That flexibility allows you to recover usable floor space, reduce the physical separation between performers and the audience and adapt your layout without permanent modifications to your facility.

FAQs

What types of venues benefit from acoustical ceiling shells?

Acoustic ceiling shells are used in performing arts centers, concert halls, school auditoriums and multipurpose venues that host live musical performances. They’re especially valuable in spaces where natural sound projection is a priority or where performers need better onstage monitoring without relying on additional amplification.

These products can be sourced individually to complement an existing setup. We can also integrate any of our rigging accessories into a larger system if you are working on a more comprehensive project.

Yes. Motorized projection screens and flying frames are designed to work within existing rigging infrastructure. Our team can evaluate your current set-up and recommend the appropriate design for your space.

Chain motors can be incorporated into motorized rigging control systems for centralized operation. Compatibility depends on your existing infrastructure. Our team can assess your system and make recommendations.

Specific compliance depends on your venue’s applicable codes and how the system is configured. We recommend involving our team early in the planning process to ensure your installation meets the relevant requirements for your facility.
